Restoring Dignity & Control After An Injury

Factory workers deserve proper protections at work

People who work in factories are hard workers who often do dangerous jobs. Because of the types of tasks they’re doing, there are inherent dangers present. It’s up to the employers to ensure those workers have what they need to remain safe.

There are some specific hazards that apply to almost all factories. Mitigating these risks can help to keep factory workers much safer.

Moving equipment

Moving factory equipment is one of the primary hazards of factory work. Remaining vigilant about staying away from those moving components is critical. Employers should train employees on proper machine use, and they should have any potential danger zones around machinery clearly marked. Many factories also have dress code guidelines, such as not wearing overly loose clothing, to help prevent clothing from becoming entangled in machines.

Noisy conditions

Noisy conditions are common in factories. Exposure to prolonged elevated noise levels can lead to hearing loss. Employers should provide workers on the factory floor with ear protection and periodic hearing checks to help prevent hearing loss.

Injured workers need to obtain immediate medical treatment for the injuries they’re dealing with. Workers’ compensation coverage should pay the costs of that care, as well as other expenses related to the injury. If the injury is catastrophic, partial wage replacement and other benefits may also be provided. Some injured factory workers may need to fight for what they’re due, so working with someone who can assist with their case is beneficial.
