Restoring Dignity & Control After An Injury

Manufacturing injuries can often be prevented

People who work in the manufacturing industry are often working near dangerous materials and equipment. Employers must give these workers what they need to remain safe while they work.

Many hazards must be considered when coming up with a safety plan. The duty falls on the employer to make sure that safety protocol is established and followed.

Why do accidents occur in manufacturing?

One reason for accidents in manufacturing is frustration. Workers often have production requirements that aren’t realistic, making it hard for them to meet the quota. They may be upset about their working conditions. In some cases, fatigue is a contributing factor to these accidents on the job.

Some workers become complacent because of the repetitive nature of the job. This can lead them to become distracted, which may cause problems. In some cases, they may skirt around safety practices because they feel so comfortable with the job duties they’re doing.

The injuries that these individuals face vary greatly. Of the non-fatal injuries that occur, sprains, tears and strains are the most common type of injury. Cuts, punctures, lacerations and soreness are also prevalent.

More serious injuries are also possible. These include things like brain and spinal cord injuries. Sadly, some of these are fatal incidents. Catastrophic injuries can mean the worker can’t return to their job duties. Fatalities mean that family members need financial support.

Anyone working in the manufacturing industry who suffers a work-related injury should file for workers’ compensation. This can cover the injury-related medical bills. It’s also possible to recover other benefits, such as partial wage replacement.
