Restoring Dignity & Control After An Injury

Emergency airlifts often follow serious motor vehicle accidents

On Behalf of | Nov 13, 2018 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

An Illinois hospital recently prepared to receive an incoming emergency. A 15-year-old girl was being flown to the facility from the scene of multi-vehicle collision. Police have reportedly issued a traffic citation to one of the drivers involved. Motor vehicle accidents like this one are often fatal; thankfully, everyone involved in this incident survived.

Moments before the initial impact of the crash, a vehicle had apparently come to a full stop. The driver was preparing to make a left turn. In situations like this, any driver approaching the rear of another car at a stop sign or red light is obligated to slow down in order to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.

A 20-year-old man was behind the wheel of the car that approached the stopped vehicle on a recent Wednesday. Not only did the driver fail to stop behind the car, he slammed into the back of the other vehicle with such force that the car was pushed from the northbound lane into the southbound lane. It then smashed into a third car, which was driven by the girl whose injuries prompted the emergency air flight.

The driver who was driving the car that appears to have caused the Illinois collision was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid collision. It is not uncommon for motor vehicle accidents to occur at intersections. Such situations often lead to litigation, when a recovering victim or family of a deceased victim seek legal accountability against the driver deemed responsible in the incident.
